Chiapas, Mexico // Comprometido (Committed Community)
The work in Chiapas began over 10 years ago when God started touching the lives of skaters in Chiapas, Mexico. Calvary Chapel La Habra began to take frequent trips down, opening a skate shop, and several American believers stayed long-term to cultivate the growth there. Over the years, CCLH lost touch with the local believers.
In 2016, the Lord prompted a missions team that was visiting Central America to make a quick stop through Chiapas. They wanted to see if the work had continued. To their amazement, not only were the local skater kids still there, they had grown up and started families of their own. They desired to be grounded in a Bible-teaching church, and asked if Calvary La Habra would partner with them once again.
Over the past two years, God has grown the ministry in incredible ways. Several of the young skater kids from years ago are now leading the local community to draw closer to the Lord. CCLH maintains close weekly contact with the young church, and we came alongside them through the community's recovery after a massive earthquake in 2017.
We visit them a few times each year, and are encouraged and blessed by all that God has done between CCLH and Chiapas. Currently, the church has relocated to a new building and is called Comprometido (Committed Community).
Local Mexico, Ensenada
Calvary La Habra takes quarterly weekend trips down to Ensenada, Mexico. We visit a few local churches, do ministry at work camps, and spend time at orphanages. It's an amazing way to see the work of the Lord in another country and culture, to connect with other believers from Calvary La Habra, to bless our brothers and sisters in Mexico, and to get a taste of Missions for a weekend.
We encourage everyone considering a longer-term Missions trips to first join us on a trip to local Mexico. We'd love to get to know you, and for you to see how Calvary La Habra partners with churches in other countries to carry out the work of the Great Commission!
